I made this photo while working on a feature story at the National Cat Groomers Institute of America. I decided to post it because I had heard from many people how it made them laugh….so if you need a good laugh, here you go!

I was sent to Columbia to photograph South Carolina republican candidate for governor, Nikki Haley, on the night she accepted the republican nomination. That night it was one picture of current Governor Mark Sanford and his ex-wife, Jenny, greeting each other with a quick kiss that caused quite a buzz. The Greenville News ran the photograph (as well as other local papers), but The News chose not to release it to television.

It is a dual show with artist Jackie Shapiro Rosen. As most of you who visit my website know, I traveled to Germany in search of my family history. I will be showing 14 of those photographs.

If you have the opportunity, please come to the opening reception this Friday at Village Studios & Gallery in the Pendleton Street Arts District from 6-9 pm. And, if you can’t make the reception, the show will be on display through the end of April.

Many of you know that I traveled to Germany in the fall. It was amazing to visit the towns of my grandparents and ancestors. I have been promising to publish a few of these on the website and here they are….

It was heartbreaking on Christmas day to see all the people lined up for hot meal at the Greer Soup Kitchen. On the other hand, it was great to see all the volunteers at the Greer Soup Kitchen. I shot this picture just before they opened the doors to the public and volunteers grabbed hands and prayed in the kitchen.

There was a lot of action last night at the Carolina First Center as the Goodfellows, a local service organization founded by American Legion members, packed food boxes for needy families with the help of volunteers, such as the Boy Scouts.

I got to the scene and photographed the command center where firefighters were cooling off from fighting fire in 99 degree heat. Because of the location of the fire, there were no picture opportunities (except that of smoke rising from the trees). I asked one simple question to one of the firefighters…..’is there a location where I would be able to get pictures of the firefighters at work?’

This is where I ended up…..
